Greece has too many cats already and you just can not raise all of them :( We have problems finding owners for bigger kittens already, but those were only about one week old and have to be fed every few hours, even during the night (but more about this later ;) ).
So, in fact they were busy putting them to sleep (final sleep) and all that was left was a grey and a black one still awake. My boss said, that this was my last chance to get one if i wanted. I knew that my boyfriend just wanted a black one, because he hates those white hairs all over his cloths and the couch . I called him and he just said: "If you want it, get it.", well that's what i did then.
Lis called in a pet shop around the corner, so they could prepare the stuff i needed (instant milk powder for kitten, a bottle with sucker). I also took a toy for Angie, because this is what you do with the older kids when a baby comes into the family, right? In fact, this didn't help much.
I'll skip the work day part and the travel home with the metro. Nothing exciting happened there.
So, arriving at home, Angie greeted me as always delightedly. Then a confused look at the box i was carrying and the strange sounds that were coming from the inside. I'll have to add that my cat never ever liked other cats, no matter the size (hers or the other cats ;) ).
But to my surprise she didn't hiss a single time at the small one, or tried to attack it. The crying seemed to disconcert her and with a last desperate look at me, she left to watch what was happening now from afar.
After preparing his food, I made myself with the kitten comfortable on the couch and started to feed him. Ah, i forgot to mention that it is male. Like most men his appetite is huge, he sleeps a lot and digestion is proper. We had our first success what defecation is concerned in the early afternoon! Yay!
In the times between the feedings the baby moved to a laundry basked and i plan to lock it either in the kitchen or the bed room when none of us is at home.
When Giorgos arrived he was surprised how small it is, because i kind of had forgotten to tell him that it is that young. Eyes are still closed and if the estimated age is correct they will stay like that for some more days. This does not keep it from rushing into a random direction and leaving it to me to keep it from falling down. He said, that this will be all my job and he wants nothing to have to do with it, but i do not think he will stick to that ;)
Angie was shocked, did not want to be petted and just growled at us when we wanted to give her some attention.
I just hope this will get better, because Angie has always been my number one cat and even if the small one is cute, if she can not live with it, we wont either.
